Dull pain due to Scrotal pearl?

by jaymespr30, Nov 15, 2005 12:00AM
Hello. About 2 years ago I noticed a small lump on my right testicle. Their was no pain or swelling. The Dr checked it out and said it was normal. About 2 months ago I had dull aching pain. I got a ultra sound done. The lady performing the ultra sound asked me to find the lump. The problem was that i could not find the lump at the time. It was hard to find. She said not to worry because she found a lump that was 5mm. It came back as a calcification or scrotal pearl. But i still was feeling on and off pain all over my right testicle. I would perform daily inspections on myself at home in the shower. I noticed that the lump was always at the bottom of my testicle. The lump seems that it's on my testicle but when I touch it I noticed that I can move it anywhere, it doesn't seem attached because i can move it. I went to the Urologist. He checked over the ultra sound and felt my epidydimis. It hurt really bad. He told me that I probably have epidydimitis and he also thought that the scrotal pear or calcification was inside the epydydimus. I took bactrium for 3 weeks. in that time the pain reduced about 60 percent. But now it seems like the lump is a little larger. I can easily find it now and I can sill move it around. The urologist said it can't be cancer because i can move it around. Is this true? if it's not cancer can a calcification or a scrotal pearl grow at all? What else can this be? what is the procedure of getting this taken out? Your opinion will be greatly appreciated.

Testicular cancer usually presents as a firm mass.  Most are non-moveable, but atypically, some can be moved.  The scrotal ultrasound should be able to differentiate whether this is cancer or not.

It is possible for a scrotal pearl to enlarge over time.  Other possibilities for a scrotal mass can include a cyst, hydrocele or varicocele.  These possibilities should be able to be seen on ultrasound.

If the symptoms worsen, then this can be surgically removed.  I am not a urologist - so I cannot give exact details for the procedure this would entail.
