Sudden increased glans sensitivity/loss of stamina

by crgibbs, Jan 30, 2006 12:00AM
I'm a 22-year-old man and have had no negative urological history until this year.  I've been in a committed, single-partner heterosexual relationship for two years, and up until around a month ago have rarely had any less-than-satisfactory sexual experiences.  In December I was with another woman in a fling (which I regret now for a number of reasons!), and it is a woman I knew quite well and felt confident enough about her sexual history that we had unprotected sex.  2-3 weeks ago, I first started noticing a drop in sexual stamina, in the sense that I would ejaculate much more quickly than I had my whole sexual life.  Up until this year it was honestly sometimes an annoyance that I would take too long to climax when with a woman.  Now, in both masturbation and intercourse, it feels as though I could climax after only a minute or two.  I'm circumsized, and have never felt this sort of sensitivity in the tip of my penis.  There's no discomfort, but there a light tingly feeling that is pretty consistent throughout the day.  I'm not experiencing repeated burning feelings during urination, though it has happened once or twice, but never to the point of being painful.  Are there any STDs that would cause increased sensitivity but not cause pain or discharge?  Is there any way of telling, or other symptoms that I would be experiencing were this an STD?  Any thoughts?

The only way to know if there is an STD present would be to test for it - with a urine tests or urethral swab.  STDs and other infections can present in varying ways - so certainly it may be possible it can lead to increased sensitivity.

Dermatitis or any other skin conditions affecting the penis can affect sensitivity - this can be evaluated with a dermatology referral.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
