Urination Pain after Ejaculation

by heidi1971, Sep 16, 2006 12:00AM
I get a very severe burning pain thru my penis and back to my bladder BUT ONLY when I urinate after ejaculation. Not immmediately after - abdout 30 mins later - and I dont need to urinate whenever I ejaculate - but the times I do the pain is very bad. I have had this for about 5-6 years - All the other times I urinate there is no pain at all, no burning, no stop start, nothing.

Any suggestions?

Infection should be ruled out.  This can be done via a blood test, looking for STDs and urethritis.

If negative, a digital exam can be considered to look for prostatic enlargement or inflammation.  The prostate can be further evaluated with a transrectal ultrasound.

Finally, if infection has been ruled out, a cystoscopy can be considered to look for anatomical causes of the discomfort - such as a urethral stricture or polyp.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
