iritation and strange growth in tip of urethra

by antony, Jan 31, 2007 12:00AM
i noticed about a six to eight weeks ago that my urine stream was different. soon after, i opened and looked in the tip of my penis and noticed it looked like there was something in there. the more i pulled back on it the more this growth or swollen tissue would come out. when forced out the tip, it looks like a spikey, irregular mass the size of a pea or smaller. when i first noticed it, there was some very minor pain or tingle, but not necesarily while urinating. there was also no noticeable discharge of any kind. soon, there was no pain at all, only minor discomfort once in a while. i dont have insurance, so i avoided the doctor. i have had ghonorea before so i tried to take a heavy dose of amoxicilin (10 capsules). no effect. it was nothing like ghonorea though. no burning, redness, discharge. because i had the pills, i took another 12 capsuls over 3 days to no effect. recently, after drinking more than i usually do and some sexual activity, the pain and irritation has increased. i will have medical coverage in a few weeks but i am getting worried now. as for my sexual history at the time, i had unprotected regular and anal sex two weeks before i noticed the signs. and unprotected sex with the same partner two weeks before that. she was recently tested and came back neg for ghonn and chlamidia. is this a serious problem that i should consult a urologist about now? or could i just see if i can go to the county clinic for general care? what can this be? i have scoured the internet medical sites and have had zero answers. please help.....

A genital wart can be considered.  This should be looked at by your physician or urologist.

I would also repeat the STD tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia.  A digital exam to evaluate the prostate should also be done.  Any prostatic fluid can be sent off for analysis and culture.

If infection has been completely ruled out, a cystoscopy can be considered to evaluate the lower GU tract.

I would consider a urology referral to further evaluate the symptoms.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
