STD Symptom

by 268910, Apr 15, 2007 12:00AM
Hello;

I'd like to share some symptoms and see if this COULD BE HPV.

I visited my doctor 2 months ago, and he said no -- but I'm not sure I agree with him.  Actually he just said it's not an STD but a "mechanical" issues and that skin on the penis can take a beating and nothing to worry about.  However, I am worried about it.

Here are the symptoms:

Last summer, while masterbating I noticed the skin on the shaft of my penis near the top of the shaft was swelling -- (liquid ) was being trapped by the skin as I masterbated.

I was extremely worried and planned on immediately going to the Dr. the next day. However, within an hour, everything was back to normal.

Over the next few months, this occurence was intermittent. Somtimes I experienced it and sometimes I did not while materbating.

Then starting in say November, it's been almost consistent. The skin on the top of the shaft (not the head) of the penis looks red in places and gets irritated when I masterbate.

I cannot "see" any warts and nothing I see online on pictures of genital warts * looks like what I have.  But this skin on the upper part of the shaft nearest the head always seems as little "red" and in places there are clearly red places.

My doctor says it's "mechanical" and sometimes the skin of the penis can be irritated. I'm just concerned this has been a "months long" problem.

Does this sound like something HPV coulc cause if i had small warts that were not really visible??????????

Is this unusual???

What else could it be?

Genital warts are certainly possible, however it is difficult to say without examination.

Normally, the diagnosis is made on clinical grounds - but an acetic acid test can be considered.  Application of diluted acetic acid turns HPV lesions a characteristic white.

I would also be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia.  A rectal exam to evaluate the prostate should also be considered as well.

A referral to a urologist or dermatologist can be considered for further evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
