The first
and most important step to protecting yourself against the flu is getting a yearly flu vaccine, says the CDC. While
there are many different strains of the flu, the seasonal flu vaccine protects against the three strains that are most likely to attack your immune
system. Everyone six months in age and older should be vaccinated by December,
when flu season typically peaks.
Those who are 65 or older should also talk to their
doctor about getting a pneumonia vaccine.
