Your thyroid is a small gland at the front of your neck, and it's responsible for hormones involved in weight, metabolism, body temperature and even emotions. For about 20 million Americans, an overactive or underperforming thyroid is responsible for troublesome hormone imbalance. Symptoms can get serious, but thyroid disorders are generally treatable; they're just sometimes hard to find.
