Tips on Losing Weight When You Have CFS or Fibro

Tips on losing or maintaining your weight when you are chronically ill with fibro or CFS:

Is your thyroid low ?? According to Kent Holtorf, M.D, "close to 100% of individuals with these syndromes have low thyroid. This is, however, usually not picked up on the standard blood tests because the TSH is not elevated in these individuals due to pituitary dysfunction." So what can you do ? You have two options that I'm aware of:

Apple Cider Vinegar (I buy Bragg's)

"Some small studies have hinted that apple cider vinegar could help with several conditions, such as diabetes and obesity."

Eat a piece of 100% whole grain bread, coated with olive oil on it before you eat dinner. This was something that Dr. Oz had recommended on the Oprah Winfrey show.

I haven't had much difficulty with my weight, but i've had plenty with muscle tone.

I just read the 'hypothyroidism' link and so many of those symptoms hit home.  Esp. with the dry hair and fatigue.  **Considering an endocrine doc. next time**

Thank you for posting this, I take this very seriously and am affected personally.  I'm diagnosed with Lyme, but have a lot of CFS/fibro symptoms.

At the onset of my acute illness, I was sedentary, a smoker, and ate a poor diet.  As I started going from doctor to doctor, I worked very hard to change my habits.  I was worried my poor lifestyle would make it too easy for the doctors to dismiss my concerns.

I had some success.  But starting in Fall '08, the fatigue set in terribly and since then, no matter how I eat/exercise, I can't lose more weight and struggle a great deal as I gain and then lose the same several pounds.

I do think my illness is influencing my ability to lose (or even maintain!) my weight.  I never, ever before felt the heaviness and exhaustion that I now deal with daily.  I know I am fortunate, because I can exercise most days.  However, I lack the stamina to lead a normal active life.  So while I may be able to work out, I also need to to go bed in the early evening.

Many days, (and I'm sure others can relate), I need to chose which activities matter the most, I never have enough energy for a normal schedule.  Yet my thyroid labs are always borderline.

All of this not only affects my weight, but also my mood and self-esteem.

I'll review the list you provide and discuss options with my Lyme doctor next week.

Some bacteria make you fat, some thin:

There are also other sources about this, but this is yet another bacterial connection with our diseases.
