Week 15

Has it sunk in that you’re pregnant? Many women claim that it doesn’t really hit until they trade in their jeans for maternity clothes (Which usually happens sometime around this week).

Pregnancy MomWhat Is Happening To Your Body

During these few weeks, you should schedule your amniocentesis, if you plan on having one. This test is usually done between 16 and 18 weeks of the baby’s birth.

Your heart is also working over time to supply your baby with oxygen. It is pumping about 20% more blood than before pregnancy. Your heart will continue increasing the amount of blood that it pumps until it reaches around 30 – 50% over your original amount.

As your abdomen increases in size, you may find that it grows harder to find a comfortable sleeping position. For many women, the most comfortable sleeping position is on your left side with a pillow below your legs. Try to sleep in this position as early as possible so that it will be easier before your baby grows any bigger.

Your baby is around 2.5 ounces (70 grams) and is about 4 inches (10.1 cm) from crown to rump. Your baby’s growth over the next few months is only going to grow faster.

Your baby’s skin has developed but is so thin and translucent that you can still see your baby’s blood vessels through it. Your baby’s hair continues to grow and its ears are almost in position now.

Your baby’s skeletal and muscle system continues to develop as your baby slowly becomes more active. Your baby’s bones harden and retain calcium really rapidly.

If this is your first pregnancy, it probably is too early for you to feel any movement (you should feel movement within the next few weeks). If this is not your first pregnancy, then you may feel your baby start moving at this time.
