Worst Foods for Hypertension

Drink Less: Alcohol

Drink Less: Alcohol

While some studies find that moderate drinking may decrease blood pressure, others show that even a small amount of alcohol can cause numbers to go north. But the one thing that most experts agree on? Binge drinking is a definite no-no — in addition to other risks, a recent study from South Korea associated it with nearly double the risk of mortality in adults with hypertension.
Heart-healthy choice: If you do drink, keep it to a minimum — no more than one drink per day for women, one to two drinks per day for men.
