I didn't realize there was another note from you. Sorry I missed it and am slow to reply. My surgery in Feb. was to remove a 10cm cyst on my ovary plus the ovary and tube. I was told anesthesia can trigger more arrhythmias in folks who are prone to them anyway. So you may be having vasospasms? Are they thinking of doing an angiogram to check for blockages or narrowings? Did they want to start you on any meds? Have you worn a heart monitor? Too many questions. Your doctors will check it all out before your surgery. Often they won't make any changes for surgery but just like to know about these things. Off to work I go. Later, Irene

Just a quick note to say hi! One of those "cute" dogs keeps digging big holes in the backyard and comes in covered with dirt. She's so proud of herself that I don't have the heart to be mad at her. I just wish I could teach her to wipe her feet!! LOL I've had thyroid symptoms for years but was just diagnosed in March. My TSH and T4 are OK but the antibodies are going up. However, in the grand scheme of things that's not too bad. At least I have a dr who is paying attention and is treating me. I hope your coronary spasm experience is under control and you are feeling OK. I see that you are a teacher...me too. What did you teach before you retired?

I had to wear an event monitor before I went into surgery in Feb. I got a new cardio and he wanted to see what my heart was up to before the surgery. That's when he put me on Diltiazem for awhile, make sure the heart was a bit quieter before I had anesthesia. Our husbands can be very protective at times. If I'm having a bad day, mine will sit and watch me. Better than being ignored or not taken seriously. Hope you got a good night rest. Irene

I can't post a link on the board but I think I can do it here. There's a very friendly, helpful website for folks with Raynauds. Not sure if you've ever been there. My favorite categories are "questions and answers" and "coping strategies." The folks there have great ideas in dealing with this. Hope you like it. http://www.raynauds.org/forums/forum/index.cfm

Hi fluffy, hypokinesis will get better if cells are hibernating (mine was apparently), or stay the same unless there is another harmful event. Heart sizes do vary between sexes, and large and small people. The echo is very useful to establish a baseline of values and compare future reports for any unfavorable or favorable change. There are published M-Mode values (dimensions and wall thickness, from the echo) that are not consistant with each other, but the variation isn't much. I have all the M-Mode values and the acceptable range. From what I have read, you shouldn't have enlarged LV, and that would be the area of immediate interest...I had to down size reply...over 800 words!!!!

Just a quick note to say hi! Induced ischemia should be identical for exertion or injection. I haven't heard anything to the contrary...I perfer the echo test to a stress test for understanding the results. I have had 5 echos and I am able to compare to previous results to previous results, maintain a history if you will. Your echo result will show if any hypokinesis and the exact location. Also of interest will be the calculation of your heart chamber and wall dimensions. If there is hypokinesis, the left ventricle may be enlarged to compensate for any weak contractions from hypokensis. You will be interested in your dimensions, fractional shortening, EF, and structual normality of the heart valves and their funcitonality, etc. Take care.

Just a quick note to say hi! I went into more detail on the post with the forum. I didn't consider it very relevant as it is just telling the infusion pattern and is open to many interpretations and inconclusive. Take care.

Just a quick note to say hi! That's great that you're helping the feral cats. Our center works closely with the Feral Cat Coalition here in town. Although we encourage people to keep their cats indoors for their own safety as well as the safety of all the wildlife, we understand that the feral cats didn't get that choice. They're just out there trying to survive. Years ago we worked with a feral cat in our neighborhood. It took a few years but she became our baby and eventually lived indoors with us. She was the sweetest thing. She died of cancer about 10 years ago. We finally got a new kitty from the Humane Society a couple months ago. She's a rascal. And yes, she stays inside with us but we play a lot of games around home (tag, peekaboo, etc)

Congratulations! Time for a celebration... I saw your note that it's your birthday. Didn't notice if you just posted it today. Even if I'm a day or two late, it's OK to celebrate a little longer. Happy birthday! I see you're from Eureka. Nice place with some beautiful Victorian homes. Lucky you.

Just wanted to let you know I can relate. If you ever want to talk, you know where to find me. Fluffy, you are driving yourself crazy. You are going to have the gold standard test to see what is going on, and it's a very safe, very accurate assessment. Rejoice and accept that answers will come to you.

Yes, I have had them wake me up out of a dead sleep. They calls these unstable angina.Stable angina is whne there seems to be a constant pattern to them, or they occus at the same time. It's almost hard to tell them from a heart attack. I agree with chemist. In fact, wouldn't hurt to have it checked out at the ER next time. Good luck, Ally
