I have been following you in the HIV anxiety group forums and signed up to this site to say thank you so much for your encouraging words and insight.
I have been a disaster for a few weeks now and getting my test results in two days (5 months after contact) and it can't come fast enough.
Besides you, the Internet and my mind getting the best of me have been worst enemies during this time. It's been a rough ride, but your journals and knowledge have made me feel slightly more confident for the next couple days until I know for sure.

Hello joggen! just a quick question hope you dont mind..just a an anxiety driven question. I took the OraQuick advance test (saliva) and I collected the saliva only from the incide of the upper lip. I heard that you need to collect it from both upper and lower lip. do you think it matters and will change my results? which were negative by the way.

joggen .. mate you are doing a great job.. could you please advise me so that i can start living my life normally.. this is my worry..
i went to have a massage.. no sex.. no oral sex.. no fingering.. no kissing..
the girl sat over my back and buttocks (she was naked) and was massaging my back with oil..
now my question is.. can i be infected if her vaginal liquids fall on any of the pimple/boil i have on my back..
mostly i scratch my back. and the pimple/boil break often..
please advise..

also my local hiv expert(he is a hiv lab researcher) told that i cant be infected ..

well joggen you say external fluids can not infect..... once it is out HIV dies quickly or it is host... let me explain it to you some health care provider got infected through blood splashes on their eyes.. what you say?... most people here say that HIV dies quickly outside body,, even the fluids are present... am totally confused... some expert says it can be alive for more than 7 days in dried state.... am really afraid ... because an HIV fluid touched my penis... later i master batted my self in my underwear.. after two weeks now i have mild fever and sore throat... plz give me a answer... do not neglect plz plz

I was just worried as I had read somewhere that HIV virus are alive in the air for few/minutes/hours..
My only worry was my penis would have touched someones semen (passed few minutes back) and would have gone inside my penis.. i am only worried about that..

Thanks for all your advise. When I went to get tested the doctor even told me that there is only a slight chance of me getting effected with hiv. However, he advised me that regardless of the results of the test (I should get them this week) I should go back 3 months later for another test. By the way, when I went for a blood test (5 days after the incident), he also took blood for other STDs.
Question: Is it too early to detect other STD's besides hiv in such a short time from the time of the exposure?

I had a similar experience to you, with a sore throat, white coating, and raised anxiety levels (caused by the virus). Pins and needles in the legs also. Full details are here on my blog:
