Thanks for the note! I'm doing OK for the moment. Spring helps a lot. Any time I can get outside in my garden is a good mental health day, and the weather has been downright hot lately. Hooray! :-)

Just a quick note to say hi! Thanks so much or your message, sorry you are not feeling well. Hope the flu passes quickly for you and that you are feeling better. I am still finding my way around this site as it is still a bit confusing. I joined the pets forum. See you later.

Just a quick note to say hi! Just joined this medical site and I don't seem to be getting any responses. I thought it would be like a forum where people chat to one another and make friends. Do you find it a bit slow? Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

I can't thank you enough for your very kind note. As you've most likely already noted, I don't have much of a life outside the internet since I'm on this site so often. :-) I love my critters, and dogs in general, and have learned a great deal over the years. It always makes me happy to be able to help another dog/ critter-lover. :-)

Hi Samantha, Don't ever underestimate insomnia. It is one of the major reasons for depression. It can manifest itself in many physical ailments. That is why I call it situational depression. I, too, am an optimistic person. Depression is difficult. Maybe we go through it to be able to help and understand others. Thank you for your note. I look forward to hearing about your progress.

I know I have rambled for awhile, but I am really glad to have been there for you when you needed it. Keep up with the baby steps. My life is an open book to any who asks. If you have questions, just ask. I have no secrets because monsters only live in the dark and that is the only place they have power. Don't give them that power. Turn on the light and TALK! TALK! TALK! God bless you sweet girl, I look forward to hearing from you soon.

They are out there jakesbride (by the way a name would be nice - I am Michele) you just have to look for them. Keep looking until you are satisfied. They provide a service for which you pay for. If you bought a pair of shoes, a dress, and in the end really regretted it or didn't like them, wouldn't you return them and move on? It should be even more so with your health. One more...

As far as doctors go.... I sincerely believe that no matter what kind of doctor you go to you must always remember that even though they are educated in ways we are not they are there to provide a service for you. You ultimately know your body (and mind) better than anyone. Listen to it. Find a doctor that will listen to what you are saying. I am blessed with an amazing GP. He never pushed the meds and only when I finally asked for some help did he prescribe them. My psychiatrist was the same way. I went to this man for 7 years and not once did he prescribe medication for me. He was a firm believer in listening to one's own intuition. More to come...

With my past history I knew I was entering some rough waters. Besides medical and other emotional issues at the time I was having to deal with my mother's dieing. She was diagnosed with lung cancer and given 3 months. She survived 9 weeks after the diagnosis. I had a lot of stuff to deal with, not the least of which was coming to terms with her not being there anymore. My mom and I had issues when I was young, but had grown extremely close during the last few years of her life. My siblings and I did in-home palliative care. She died in her home, with me holding her hand. I still choke up when I think about it. I miss her greatly. However, I digress... The meds were really needed then. Not always the route to take, but I felt I had no other choice. Look for another note.

Hey there! Good to hear from you. I am so glad I was able to help. I agree about the meds. Meds are very important when used wisely and correctly. The Effexor really did help me through a tough time. I have weaned off them now and am really happy I did, but at the time I went on them I knew I needed them. I'll finish this in another note.
