Being in this life is enough. Can't worry about a past one. What if you were a slug or something? What could a slug do to warrant punishment? Just don't try suicide - it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I know because I've tried it.

I was laughed at for the terrible sin of being Native Indian and having red hair. Even now it hurts. People can be so cruel - try to look for the good ones. That old man who laughed at you should have been slapped upside the head; but he'd probably like it.
