Hi Penelope, hope you're feeling great today.
Regards from Costa Rica.

Go for it Penelope! Anything that gets you outdoors & mixing is probably a very good thing. All's well for me. Am just about to go for usual run, weather's on the turn & I'll get well soaked. Skin's waterproof & I'm only gone for an hour & a half. It's better than Benzos to keep me calm. Never regretted any run. Hope your mood stabilises & that you then enjoy your life as much as I'm doing at present.Take care & feel well. Best wishes, George

Hope you are feeling good & maybe getting back to work?Summer's here & it seems to have a very beneficial effect on almost everyone. When 'down' the sun doesn't seem to be important, as is everything else? But it eventually shines through. Delighted to report that I've been upbeat/stable for last 3 months or so. My manias although out of control don't now give me the downsides afterwards. Decided to stick with the meds forever. Accepting the side effects is my choice as I need the benefits that meds. give. Do you get out & about much?Good social network? Enough questions. Good Luck, George

Thanks for the note. Glad that you feel the benefit of exercise ~ the dogs need it too. Here in UK we're having The Dog Whisperer TV programme on most nights ~ not got a dog, but love them & walk them whenever I get the chance. This morning I ran a 1/2 Marathon X-country ~ it's an annual event in a nearby village. Horses, bike riders, walkers also take part. I got a medal for being the oldest man to finish. Hope things continue to improve for you. I'm experimenting with meditation currently & find it gives a calming effect whatever I'm doing ~ used it while running this morning. Tried it?No hokus-pokus needed, just calm, deep breathing & relaxation. Whatever works I'll stick to. Best wishes for your future.

Just a quick note to say hi! Can relate to your feelings about the medical prescribers. Hope you're feeling more settled now & have some peace of mind. Keeping on with whatever keeps you going's the only way to think/act. I'm not Bi-Polar (officially) but sometimes I have manic swings & downs. But take Venlafaxine & Zopiclone to sleep. Best wishes. Gofio. Exercise often helps me, do you use it too?

You're in my thoughts. I know about the mood chart. I put a suggestion in that we could track multiple moods in one day as I sometimes have that problem, I can relate as it seems like you're on a rollercoaster with no way to control the ups and downs as they can be very sudden. Take care

I like this profile picture of you....very dark and mysterious and beautiful.

Just a quick note to say hi! Life sometimes makes you want to say I quit, however, never give up! Just when you think things are bad you can turn a corner and everything will change for you. Keep the faith and move forward

You're in my thoughts all the time, but especially today. Been off medhelp for a bit, but just saw your title about moving out. How exciting! I hope to read more this weekend (I've got 4 days off). I'm doing it, so maybe I can give you some tips or something. The privacy is awesome! Off to work....

RE : Roger Gould MD.
That comment of his "the mania and depression are mixed because the euphoria is an exaggerated attempt to subjugate the depression, therefore both trends always coexist until you get down the source of the depression, which is something you should search for in therapy."
Is amazing. Seriously is this an expert in modern mental health? No wonder BP's have trouble.
Im a rapid cycling BPII and I get mixed states all the time - its common for me - atypical or bipolar depression can also look like a mixed state. This guy is a quack.
Cheers

Freudian, huh? That explains why I thought it sounded like such garbage! Thanks for filling me in on where his ideas came from.
I work with autistic children using applied behavior analysis, which is somewhat based on Skinner's theories of behavior. I, personally, have had the most success with cognitive-behavioral therapy as an adjunct to medication, perhaps because it comes so natural to me because it's so close to what I do for work so I can moderate my own behavior and thoughts the same way.
I would think that MedHelp would want their Drs. not to be espousing one particular type of therapy over all others, as different types of therapy work better for different people and different disorders.
