I became a member last year when my back went out. A lot has transpired since then. I know now that I have DDD, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy in both arms and both legs, pinched nerve at C6-C7. I had a spinal fusion
[More] done in November 08. When they went in there was no disk left and it was bone on bone, so they had to put spacers in. I still have to have my cane with me or use a cart if I am in a store. I have applied for SSD but I am currently on that list for the court portion.
I am married to a great man and I have one son that is 25 yrs old. If it were not for my husband, I don't know what I would have done since my back went out. He works a full time job, we have a garden, he does most of the cleaning in the house, takes care of the yard and works full time. Plus had to help me after surgery with getting in and of the bath, etc...
I guess I came back here because I know how it helped last year to be able to relate. I do have a better attitude. The problems I have could have been worse...a LOT worse. So I am thankful it's not more. It creates a much better attitude and that helps too!
And, I QUIT SMOKING!!! Yeah for me!
UPDATE: I have since had a shoulder surgery too. The back surgery was a great thing! Now I am dealing with the rest of the list of things wrong and have just found out I have Hep C. Another hurdle to go....again~
Just a quick note to say hi! My name is brook and I have arachnoiditis. I have had three back surgeries and 13 screws and a neck fusion. I know how you feel, trust me. Write me sometime and we can chat.
I can totally relate to what you are going thru. I fell in 2002 fracturing my coccyx and herniated and tore 3 other discs. In fact now I don't have a decent lumbar disc left. I have been to lots of MD's myself along the way. Lots of Meds, therapies etc. I even had my coccyx removed. Don't ever feel that you are alone in your struggle there are a lot of us out here..
I also have a lot of other medical issues.
Just wanted to let you know I can relate. If you ever want to talk, I'm a click away. It seems the more we complain the more Rx's we accumulate. That's the MD's way. I'm so sorry you're hurting, I fully understand as I have been there, and it sux. I wish you the best and my prayers are with you. Believe me, the medicine is not the answer, the Dr's give pills for symptoms of the side effects of other pills, so be carefule there. It's way to easy to get ever medicated. if you are on more that 5 medicines you need to rethink. Hope you find answers soon.
