Matthew, it could be a reaction to the oatmeal itself - the gluten-like moiety in the oats - or it could be the oats are contamined with 'wheat' in the fields, or the shipping or the storage problem. Try some oats from www.glutenfreeoats.com - I think that's the site. My husband can have oatmeal from that company with no problems and I make him cookies out of those oats all the time. It's worth a try.
Also remember that some with celiac cross-react to casein, the major protein in diary. Have you had that checked out?
Matthew, if the rice is fortified (vitamins added) there can be a reaction. The fortification process is accomplished using either a corn or gluten 'slurry.' My husband has experienced a reaction from fortified rice, unfortunately. We buy a 'sushi' rice - organic, non-fortified from Koda Farms. I believe all rice by law - except for sushi rice - has to be fortified. Try contacting Koda Farms and finding out where their sushi rice is sold.
Thanks for your note. Went to doc today and said my blood work came back normal. Not sure where to go from here. Guess I'll just wait and see what happens :-) Thanks again.
I have started a eating a little gluten again, because I just can't help it. I tried Yeast Ease from Jerninigan Neutracauticals, (spelling?) and it seems to have calmed my stomach.
