I have a chronic illness called Dysautonomia, or Autonomic Dysfunction. I am one of the Community Leaders for MedHelp's Dysautonomia and Autonomic Dysfunction Community. For more information about Dysautonomia, and Autonomic Dysfunction please take a look at our health pages at:

Explained simply, it is a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, which controls the functions of the body that are supposed to be controlled automatically. Some of the symptoms I experience my particular Dysautonomia include: dangerously low blood pressure, sudden blood pressure changes, fainting, nausea, vomiting, headaches, tachycardia, bradycardia, breath holding, decreased respiration, thermoregulatory dysfunction, heat intolerance, lightheadedness, extreme fatigue, weakness, electrolyte abnormalities, disorientation, seizures, joint hypermobility, neuropathy, delayed gastric emptying, bone pain, orthostatic intolerance, etc.
I am currently using a combination of Mestinon/Ritalin/Theo-24 to raise my blood pressure. The Mestinon has also helped my weakness, and gastroparesis symptoms. The Ritalin also helps with my ADHD, PDD-NOS/Autism behaviors. I also take Omega 3 for to improve my behaviors, as well as my fatigue. The Theo-24 also helps with my Asthma, and works as a respiratory stimulant.
I am also taking Toprol-XL and Fluoxetine. Toprol-XL helps to counteract adrenaline sensitivity, and is required for my borderline Long QT Syndrome. Fluoxetine is also off-label for Dysautonomia, and helps to eliminate some of the anxiety associated with having a chronic illness. I also take prescription liquid potassium for my LQTS.
I take Zonegran for seizures, and severe headaches. Symbicort, Guaifenesin, and Qvar for Asthma. Zofran, and Nauzene for my constant nausea and vomiting. I use Prednisone, and Xopenex on the as-needed bases for my Asthma. I take B-Complex, C Vitamins, and a Multivitamin. I also have Supplemental Oxygen for my Dysautonomia, and Asthma.
I am now in the process of being tested for a Mitochondrial disease. For that I've started CoQ10, and Acetyl-L-Carnitine. [Less]
