About Me: Male, 58, Cardiff - United Kingdom, member since Jun 2009
I have recently been diagnosed with clinical depression.  It has taken me nearly 2 - 3 years to admit to myself I have a problem, although those around me may have suspected it for some time.  I am currently on sick leave from work and about 18 months ago was put on 6 w ... [More] eeks sick leave suffering from 'work related stress.'  The more I now think about it I believe that may have been the start of my depression which has got worse.  I am the sort of man who keeps things bottled up inside and cannot easily talk to friends or family about how I am feeling.  After all they have their problems and may not want to share mine.
I have also been diagnosed with Glaucoma in the right eye which seems to add to the mood swings I get. [Less]

Xmas is something for the kids, mine have long since flown the nest & we don't meet up for Xmas. I can appreciate that it does put a lot of needless strain on families ~ particularly the women! Everything has to be perfect etc & often family start to have notes of discord before it's over. I'm doing fine, next month will be an interesting one, I'll let you know how it goes. Now my moods are stable for a long time, my manias will continue & I can put up with their downsides. Have given up long ago on being able to sleep well, but it's not something I'm concerned about. Make the most of what's happening now's the way I see it. Age does bring on deterioration, can't be avoided, Such is life. Best wishes, George

Hi Paul. good to see that you are doing fine! I'm good too. Been on another overnight camping/cycling trip. A 'friend' that had commited to go along & cancelled as I was about to get on bike. So I went alone. The winds/rain were something else. But it was a great experience as usual. Will Backpack next month, as there will probably be icy roads then?Exercise gained by struggling the elements give me a real lift, can't think of any other way of getting such a great feeling ~ when it''s over of course. How's the work situation now?Lots of things better than work! In due course you'll retire.Best wishes,George

My mood is like a pendulum just now changing all the time thru the day but unfortunately cant show this on the chart, i wish it had he facility to show mood changes within mood changes each day.I hope you are well ....take care X
