DH and I have been married for 4 1/2 years, together for almost 11 years. TTC the first time in 2006 but had a terrible car accident that almost claimed my life. That put us off from trying for 2 years. TTC since this time since April 2008. Had 3 IUIs with regular OB/GY ... [More] N but to avail (Oct., Nov., Dec., 2008). Moved on to RE in January. Had 1st IUI with RE in February, but it didn't work due to me ovulating early (RE went ahead and completed IUI with no charge). I had my second unsuccessful in March, and finally the third IUI with RE that worked. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at about 5 weeks (chem. preg.). We took off 2 mos. and then started up again with Comid, but again, I ovulated too early. I took Clomid the very next cycle but this time Clomid did absolutely nothing. We made the tough decision to move forward with injectables(Follistim) in September. On the 3rd anniversary of my wreck, we did our 4th IUI. It was also unsuccessful. I then began Clomid again in October. This time, my RE increased my dosage to no more than 150IUs the whole time (which is still a fairly low dose). Well, what we were trying to avoid happening happened. My ovaries went ballistic. I had about 12-15 mature follies and about 10 that were growing. Needless to say, we cancelled that cycle. I think I could handle twins but anything more than that scares me to death. We seriously considered IVF that cycle as a means of "rescue" so that my follies didn't go to waste (so to speak), but in the end decided against it because it wasn't the best case scenario. For the money and for our sanity (due to us having already gone through so much and that our insurance covers NOTHING). We were really trying to avoid IVF, but after giving it much thought, have decided to give it a whirl. I began my medication November 29th, 2009, had my egg retrieval on December 10, 2009 (they retrieved 27, 24 were mature and 19 fertilized) and then we transfered 2 precious (and textbook perfect) 5 day blastocysts on December 15, 2009. Our pregnancy test (beta) was due on Dec. 24, but because of the holidays we had to wait until Dec. 28...we got our BFP!!! Everything is still looking good and both blastocysts implanted and are growing well. God bless you all!!! [Less]
