A little about my health conditions. When I was 14, I was diagnosed with Major Depression. I took some medications for a while, but they ended up making me feel empty inside. I went without medication for a long time, and my anxiety and weird OCD behaviors got worse over time. I was diagnosed with a Hiatal Hernia 2 years ago, and recently diagnosed with General Anxiety and Panic Attacks. I'm currently taking Paxil and Xanax, and it helps a little with some of my weird OCD ticks and rituals. I would like to see a good therapist soon, because I think I've been OCD since I was a kid, and misdiagnosed. I've done a lot of research on certain health conditions (mostly mental health issues), and I have learned a lot through my research. My family has a huge history of cancer, diabetes, strokes, alcohol abuse, and lots of hidden mental issues. My mom was diagnosed Bi-Polar with OCD a few years ago, and my fraternal grandmother went psychotic in the early 70's after trying some new anti-depressant. She's alright now, but has had a lot of issues throughout her life.
I really think that first-hand experiences give you more insight about illnesses than sitting and listening to a doctor or a psychiatrist, so that's why I joined this site. Everyone is different, and people react differently to medications and therapies. It's nice to read other people's situations and stories.
