I would recommend you see a pulmonolgist and if that doesn't help you, a cardiologist. Coughing up brownish colored mucus is not good. Are you a smoker? This could contribute to the color. I am a respiratory therapy student so I don't profess to know everything, just enough to know you should seek additional advice. Good luck.

Hi There. I noticed your posting as I was looking for help for my mother, who seems to have the same symptoms and has for over a year and 1/2. She has had CT scans, seen 5 dentists, ENT specialists, etc. and is very frustrated. I noticed that this post was from sevearl years back. Were you ever able to find a solution?
