I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst near my 42nd birthday. It was about 6 cms. Also had very thick endometrial lining--14 mm. CA-125 came back at 23, which was "elevated" according to the test parameter of 21. Scared to death. Scheduled for laparoscopy, ablation and D&
[More]C. I went through the procedures on 9/24. Doctor found extensive endometriosis. I lost my left ovary and tube and 2/3 of my right ovary. My recovery went well except for a staph infection in my belly button incision. I took antibiotics for about 4 weeks and it seems to be gone now. The pain was not bad. My tiny piece of ovary seems to be recovering and I have hopes it will get me to menopause before going to sleep for good. The ablation was terrific. No pain or periods since the one before the surgery. I had my remaining fallopian tube sealed also, so no pregnancy worries. I am overweight and diabetic although generally in good health. If you have questions, feel free to ask. I found this forum was a great source of info. The ladies are generous about sharing experiences!
Hi Jenny, I really appreciated your response to my post. Do you mind if I ask if you had a CA-125 blood draw done prior to your surgery? And was that number elevated? Mine are not elevated and I was wondering if it could still be an endometrioma. Thanks!
