I just turned 43 in October, am a professional, so I put family, kids on hold until I was finished with school and established in my career, time seems to fly by, ttc for a few years naturally, then clomid - no luck.
[More] My first cycle of IVF was Sept 2009. I got pregnant with twins, but lost both twins at 7 and 8 weeks (after a nice heart beat was seen for both of them). I'm told that this is rare once you see a heart beat and was devastated.
Second cycle of IVF was in February - I didn't respond well to the meds, only produced 2 follicles, cycle was cancelled.
Third cycle of IVF was started in April. I had 7 follicles, 4 eggs retrieved, 2 fertilized, 2 implanted (3dt), BFP. First beta 89, second beta 500. Have had a very easy pregnancy - minimal symptoms, no problems with BP or diabetes. Baby breech, so was scheduled for an elective C-Sx on 1/11/11. Baby Stephen came early on 1/9/11 weighing in at 9 pounds, 5.7 ounces! and he is just such a precious healthy baby!
Hello. Just wanted to say it was great to find someone else over 40 who is a first time mom. I am 41 years old and a first timer but most of my friends that have kids have teenagers so I feel kind of wierd having babies. I too waited to have my career and barely married at age 38.
