About Me: Female, 32, Sevierville, TN, member since Nov 2009
My name is Cher. I have been suffering from severe allergic reactions of unknown origin for over 2 months now. My lips swell, my tongue swells, my eyes swell and my throat swells. This is almost always accompanied by hives and edema. I have lost my job as a result of th
[More]ese attacks and have two children to support. This is a very frustrating experience for me and I am here solely to look for answers. I have been to many specialists, hospitals and just about anywhere else I can go. The best they can do is give me epinephrine, benadryl and steroids to fix the anaphylaxis when it occurs. From the continual usage of steroids, I have proceeded to retain quite a significant amount of fluid. I have lost a significant amount of weight during the past 5 months. I weighed in at 191 at the end of August and I now am weighing in at 135. This is without altering my eating or exercise habits. They have checked my thyroid, done RAS testing and various other types of bloodwork. All has come back normal and my RAS test revealed about 19 allergies, none of which would result in this type of reaction. It was determined that most all except for latex and mushrooms were minor allergies that could be treated with allergy medications and antihistamines.
I carry a pouch with me wherever I may go that contains my epipen, my inhaler and emergency antihistamines in liquid form. I am admitted into the ER or doctors office on a weekly, almost daily, basis for treatment of these episodes. I am frustrated and do not want to continue living like this. I am beyond desperation at this point and am willing to do whatever it takes to be able to live without the fear of my next bad episode. I do not have the financial means to travel anywhere for treatment being without income, but if you have any other suggestions, please do share them with me. It would be much appreciated. Thank you for reading my story and may God bless you.
Hey cher! Gosh I wish I could help you. I to suffer from allergic reactions but dear God note as bad as you. I pray for you. I, like many others, had to figure out on my own what I was allergic to, Dr.'s did nothing! It is a very long and scary process not to mention extremely frustrating!!! all the other post have already suggest anything I would of mentioned except insist on a Candida test (yeast)......80% of my reactions are from a yeast build-up in my body. Wow! cher, best of luck, my prayers are with you.....
