I live in Northern California and have been a member for a few years now and love the Medhelp site....when i originally logged onto the site and found Medhelp i was extremely scared of some issues i was having even tho i have been in the medical field for years we tend
[More] to make the worst patients of all LOL. I have two beautiful daughters the last one married in June to a wonderful man. My medical history personally is that while in junior high school ( a long long time ago) i had an issue w. my heart and the docs said it was nothing to be worried about and didn't toss out a diagnosis and a few months after the intitial issue was told i had a prolapsed mitral valve but did not need treatment. So far so good no issues w. it progressing...i live a pretty healthy active life...an ex runner, surfer and general risk taker...immediate after giving birth to my oldest daughter who is now 34 i had an issue w. my heart....was put on a holter and was found to have atrial fibrillation, paraxomol tachacardia, ventricular arrythmias, PAC;s and a garden variety of other issues w. my heart. I don't know if it was the time or what but wasn't treated. I was told even back then 30 years ago just to take an aspirin a day and did. No issues just occasional bouts .....just about 4 years ago i was teaching advanced CPR to a group of doctors and nurses (that is part of my profession) and dropped right in the middle of the class. For me i was lucky because of the group i was teaching...my pulse rate was soaring into the lower 300's and by the time the paramedics and ambulance arrived i was basically a mess....my blood pressure had dropped to the upper 70's over 50's and they couldn't get an IV line in me to attempt to convert me on site...long story short..went to the E.R. was converted and made the decision that i needed to get proactive to fix this...i had a bad bad feeling if i didn't my time was llimited here on earth...good decision...i did research for the right doc and as doing it the episodes became closer and closer together and i basically almost killed myself while i did the research in waiting...found a great doc Dr. Steven Hao out of Marin County in California one of the best in California and he gave me no options...had to have the procedure NOW or die...it was pretty straight forward...so off i went to Marin General Hospital for my ablation. The procedure itself was a no brainer and easy however i did not prove to be the easiest patient for him...during the procedure i had to be converted 3 times and he told my family that i had flat lined 2 times because everything came to the surface when he initiated the arrythmias and i mean absolutely everything i had been diagnosed w. I can never thank him enought because he powered thru the procedure and didn't back out even after flat lining....to make a long story short...here i sit at my computer and Thank God every single day of my life that i have had a second chance...no real issues since the procedure i just take a low dose of antenolol as a safety net each morning along w. an aspirin at my request because my situation was so deadly and i don't want to take any chances. My entire life has changed since the ablation...i have my life back as i knew if and no there was no explanation on why this all happened and why all of the issues had popped up...it was the luck of the draw my doc said...my heart is structurally sound but being a redhead i blame it on that.....i am the only redhead in my family history and with redheads sometimes things are a little different for us than others LOL...thanks for reading this and see you on the site!!! And P.S. don't ever give up hope !!!!!!!!!!!
