About Me: Female, 59, Dixon, CA, member since Jan 2010
Mom of 3 grown children & 10-yr grandchild. Family experience w/several medical situations & conditions including: deceased daughter w/Trisomy 18; hubby & 23 Y.O. daughter have Addison's disease (she also has hypothydroidosm = Schmidts Syndrome), hubby had WPW, minor CV
[More]A, ARDS and taking Verapamil for 30+ yrs to control his Cluster headaches; to mention a few. Youngest daughter (23 yrs) began experiencing severe migraines around age 19. Began to escalate to 3+ times per week in Jan last yr ('09). I'm very FRUSTRATED b/c new Med Group docs (since 1/09 insurance change), let's call them "K", have continued to treat symptoms by ADDING meds for her ("10" daily Rx now, including for her 2 endocrine conditions), including 3-4mg Dilaudid injections 2 - 6x/month to stop the pain. She's allergic to Sulpha drugs & I'm not sure if anything they've given her (or that she's taking) have supha compounds in it. She recently stopped the Yazmin she'd been on for the past 4 yrs, and also stopped the Zoloft & Topamax. Every appt we're told "try this & come back in 3-4 weeks." Basic blood work (CBC & TSH) have some tests outside normal parameters & urine samples w/consistent high protein & leukocytes (?), but they say nothing to worry about. I'm sorry, but SOMETHING is going wrong. Apparently, her 2 MRI's last summer & a CT scan in Oct revealed nothing. In past 12 months, she's gained 85 lbs and her BP stays around 150/90 w/pulse around 90-100. NO HELP from the Endocrinoligist, the Neurologist, nor by changing her primary care doc. Guess I'm looking for a doc like "House" to really investigate or brainstorm possible cause. In mean time, she's told to "deal with it" (literally) and sit in a dark room! UGH! Any idea of specialists locations, clinics, or website info for: Chronic Migraines, Endocrinology & contraindications for multiple medications/interactions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
