About Me: Male, 67, Hastings, New Zealand, member since Feb 2010
I had a motorcycle accident in Kanchanaburi Thailand back in 2004. I had a Head injury after crash helmet came off when hitting ground after hitting flood waters round corner of shortcut road. The injury was mainly on right side of head above right eyebrow. 103 stitche
[More]s required in total which included all cuts from main injury plus facial and mouth. After recovering from that and released from hospital I noticed after a period of time that I could not smell what I was cooking, cigarette smoke, any flora in fact nothing at all. Is there a cure or treatment to get my sense of smell back. I would appreciate any help in this.
Since this occurred I have returned to New Zealand, and in 2007 had Triple bypass Heart operation after thinking for 4months that it was only heartburn, and would go away after taking medicine to reduce it. Unfortunately I was wrong. I was told prior to operation that stents would be placed for opening of arteries, but woke up and told that the triple bypass had to be done as a rare tumor was discovered (Benign) between Oesophagus and heart and so had to have radiotherapy treatment for the Tumor (Paragaugliowa) I feel fine after this treatment, and this is just to tell you a little about myself. My main concern is the loss of smell. Can this be cured with the right treatment.
