About Me: Male, 80, Walnut Creek, CA, member since Feb 2010
Colon surgery scheduled for March 11, 2010. Want contact with others who have undergone such surgery. Have small adenoma in cecum. Plan is to remove cecum and part of the ascending colon—total 6 inches.
Thanx in advance. You were helpful to me Jul 21. I too had ascending colon removed 8/10. Surgery went well - my Dr was great!! I'm recovering well. I Hope You can answer a couple of questions. I know the ascending colon removes water from waste but what happens with that process now that it no longer exists? Does this change my metabolism? To my dismay I lost 5 #'s - from 92 to 87!! Will I gain that back? It's been 5wks & I haven't regained it yet. You're at 5 months so I thought You might be able to share some info.
Just a quick note to say hi! Dear Bruno, 1000 thanx for Your response and advice. You provided me with a couple more questions that hadn't occured to me to ask.(I am a real novice here, and also a very frightened one!!) I have an appt today, 10:30am with surgeon Kathleen Manning, Kaiser, Walnut Creek.(do You know anything about her?) I was told on colonoscopy(7/16) that polyp was wide, flat and removed in pieces and in the ascending colon. I'm sorry for Your experience on this issue but bless You for Your advice to me and PLEASE I welcome any more input from You.
