About Me: Female, 57, East Lyme, CT, member since Mar 2010
I'm the single mother of one son who is now 20 and still living at home.
My life was full of adventure up until I became a single mother. My wanderlust started in high school, when I was an exchange student to that exotic country of Canada, where I learned another language, eh?
My background is accounting and finance and I started my work career in Hartford as an intern and then moved to Boston for a few years. I also spent a few years working for a commodity broker in New Orleans before heading to New York to work on Wall Street when the markets were going crazy. I had some long stints in both Chicago and San Francisco.
Being a fat cat on Wall Street meant I could afford nice vacations and I met someone in Antigua and we had a 3 year long distance relationship. When we made a baby, we decided that I would move to Antigua and live on board a classics yacht. Unfortunately, the relationship included domestic violence, so in 1996, I took my son and two bags and started life over in my home town.
I've devoted my life to working for nonprofit organizations and raising my son. He's ADHD and I am finding these past two years the most challenging ones yet in terms of parenthood.
