I'm Josh, I'm a recovering heroin addict & was currently on methadone(but I'm totally off now). Over the past year I've been slowly tapering off methadone as I'm ready to begin a sober life! I've been trying to research other peoples opinions and what they are going thr
[More]ough, I hope to find some good answers on this site
Just a quick note to say hi! Josh that is great! I am so proud of you. I know how hard it is to kick the methadone. Strongest drug there is for withdrawal. I am going to go down myself slowly, then when I get low, I will walk and do it too! I have to get some other medical things done first. I have hep c and am going to treat for it first. I hope you have checked to see about the hepatitis c? I was so surprised I had it and did not find out until 20 years after using heroin. It can lay dormant that long. But the reason I wrote is to say You did it Josh!!!! I am so happy for you!
I know your post was a while ago, but I thought I'd ask how you are doing. I recently quit the clinic 30 days ago, did well for 2weeks, but screwed up with loratabs myself this week. To answer your question from May...yes, any opiate, while providing short term relief, will set you back a bit. Do a little research on the amino acid therapy approach. Its incredible...100bucks at any gnc or walmart will reduce the wds big time. Also, look into the Hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis and the gastro-intestinal tract for indepth reasons why taking something while detoxing will set you back. Take Care, hope your doing well.
