About Me: Female, 46, San Tan Valley, AZ, member since May 2010
Well, after seven years and a handful of neurologists, I finally have answers for my medical issues. In June, 2011, I was diagnosed with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. I am still kinda shocky with this news and trying to learn everything I can about it. In May, 2011,
[More] I had a Baclofen pump implanted and it was nothing short of miraculous for me. Though six weeks later, the catheter to my pump failed which required surgery to replace it. Before the pump, I had been wheelchair and bed bound due to severe pain and spasticity. With the help of rehab, I am learning to walk again and my quality of life is improving. In August, 2011, pain meds will be added to my pump, which should be even more helpful for me. I see a light at the end of this long tunnel and I am heading towards it!
You're in my thoughts all the time, but especially today. Hope the testing at the Mayo is worth your while. I am hoping that someone, somewhere has the magic key to unlock all the mysteries your body holds. Sorry to hear about the new pain. Have had before myself and I just froze in the fetal position until it passed (a VERY LONG hour). Let us know how tings are going!!!
