About Me: Male, 60, chicago, IL, member since May 2010
2 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, In the blood tests my liver enzymes were off the chart and did further tests and found that I had hep c. geno type 1. My viro count was 4 million. I got in touch with a gastro dr. and started The enterferon and ribiviron
[More]. After 3 months I had another viro count and the dr. told me that the virus had reduced from 4 mil. to 4 thousand. Everything looked good to proceed. Dr. decided not to do viro counts at the 6 or 9 month periods as scheduled. After 1 year and my treatment was over did another blood test and all he would tell me was that it didn't work. He said I needed to do a biopsy of the liver to see the condition. I requested a viro count at the hospital and they told me that my viro count was 3.8 million. I ask how it could be that high when it was down by 1000 times at the 3 month point and he said it spiked. I don't believe one minute that it could spike that much that fast. I believe my life was measured in dollars and cents. And now I have level 3 hep c with stage 4 scirrhosis. I ask the same questions too like what does that mean but I can't get an answer. I have been told though that if I can get the hep cured I could qualify for a transplant. Im on a list for next year for a new treatment waiting to be approved by the fda and start the whole process again.
Just a quick note to say hi!
Did you have to stop your previous treatment early, or did you just not clear the virus? I really hope this next time is the charm for you. I know that lots of people on here have had to re-treat, but it is so hard to imagine what that would be like, and I'm only in my 8th week... to do the whole thing and it not work.... WOW that must be frustrating!!! Sure hope I don't find out what that feels like.

I wish I could do the leave thing that you did, but unfortunately I work for my husband, and we are the only 2 employees. We do title searches for real estate attorneys and if we don't get them done fast enough they will just send the searches to somebody else... along with our money. It's not their fault, they have to worry about loosing clients too. So I have to work 4 days a week. It's getting pretty tough, but I'll make it.
