I am a 49 year old mother of two boys, ages 22 and 20. In my 20's I had no problem getting pregnant and delivering healthy babies so I knew that my body was capable of more pregnancies. My new husband and I had never had children together, so started the IVF journey s
[More]ix years ago when I was 43. We were able to get pregnant without intervention but due to my advanced age, I would miscarry. After two rounds of Clomid with my OB, I went to an RE. We did two rounds of IUI before my RE sat me down and said that if I was serious about getting pregnant quickly, with a healthy baby, I should consider using an egg donor due to the age of my eggs (I think that I was 45 at that time). I really wanted to make my husband a daddy, and I was not finished having children, so we decided to use an egg donor. We were able to get 32 eggs from our donor and 28 fertilized. Long story short, out of 32 donor eggs, we have had one fresh transfer, and four frozen transfers. Out of five transfers, we have had three + pregnancy tests, (one non-viable - no heartbeat, one produced my sweet baby girl, and one that I am pregnant with now, that was transferred 6/4/15). I ventured into the "egg donor project" thinking that with 28 snow babies, I would probably end up with at least 14+ children ;) I did not realize that using an egg donor is such a hit-or-miss endeavor, BUT I would do all of it all over again just to have my one little princess.
It was great to hear from you!!!!! :). A very nice surprise!
! No, we are unfortunately done :(. Two is quite a handful! Haha! I have not been called grandma YET, but am waiting for day...lol.
We actually just donated our embryos to another couple, so hopefully there will be more little ones in the near future :)
