About Me: Female, Solomons Island, MD, member since May 2006
45 Years old, Diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Clear Cell Stage 1A, Grade 3 in 3/2006, underwent 6 rounds of taxotere/carboplatin chemotherapy. Went through these past years doing my regular check ups, getting my CA 125 test and my PET/CT's, just living life. Thinking tha
[More]t this cancer just might be behind me~~
But after 4 1/2 years of cancer peace, this beast has somehow invaded my body again. It's truly devastating. I am now once again looking at a "big" surgery, and more chemo. It's like a nightmare that I can't wake up from, it seems surreal. But I will re-gain my spirit, get thru what I need to get thru and kick this cancer to the curb, again. I just never thought I would be doing this again. Everyone expects me to "do well" again, hopefully this time, it's a life time.
Thank you for your kind response to my posting. I have consulted with 3 additional gynocological oncologists since my posting and they all agree that I need to have a bilateral oophorectomy. So, I have that scheduled for the 23rd of this month. I am very apprehensive about hitting surgical menopause head on, but I will deal with that when it arrives. Since EVERY female on my mom's side of the family has or had breast cancer, I will be having a bilateral masectomy once I heal from this first surgery.
I do not know much about your personal story, but I hope you are healing and in a good place....
Thank you for your kindness....
Just a quick note to say hi! Scan was bad news. Progressive disease and alot of it. Still no cancer inside the liver. That is a plus. New chemo Xeloda pills. I will try a while but I don't think it is going to do anyhting. Onc says surgery is not an option. I may seek another opinion on that.
