I'm a former dancing teacher, swimmer, and student. I always wanted to be married and have a lot of children. In 1971 the beginning of this painful journey began. I was hurt in an airplane, had back surgery #1. Back surgery #2 and #3 were due to domestic violence. T

[More]hat relationship ended, but not the back surgeries. #4, #5, #6 were due to the "domino effect." Harrington rods placed, then removed then a fusion from L3 to S1 was done. Then L2 ruptured and I had back surgery #7. Then a truck hit me and ruined every corrective surgery I had. RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) set in. It's permanent, not curable, causes severe burning pain 24/7. There are many more surgeries but I would bore you to death if I wrote about each. I do have a loving husband of over 30 years who thinks I'm as beautiful as the day he met me. Thanks to what happens to our eyes as we get older, he still feels like that!!! I have 3 wonderful children who gave me 4 of the best grandkids in the world. What I'm here for is to try to help others with any information I might have learned while going thru my medical journey, and also to perhaps run into someone who can help me with this fluid retention that is so stubborn that it's confused every doctor I've seen, and even with eating nothing, I'm unable to take off the edema! I'm not heavy....but I'm heavy for me. So I won't put my weight, since most people think I'm complaining about nothing. I will say there is 15 lbs. of fluid retention that not even the best cardiologist can diagnosis. All he can say is it's not cardiac related. I hope that I will run into someone who will point me in the right direction so I can bring new information to my doctor. My passion was to become an Obstetrician. I managed to get a degree in the medical field, but as a physician's assistant rather than an Obstetrician. I couldn't work very long because of all the injuries to my back. I hope I haven't bored you. I hope to meet people who are dealing with their life in a similar way.
