Humidity!!! YES!!! I've been taking COLD showers now for a year. I don't understand the hot remedy. In fact, I had to get rid of my computer and change to a quilt so I wouldn't get too warm. When I get warm is when it gets worse (it's always there, just to different degree's) I've been the Dr, steriod, different med's, direction and, like you, still struggle and have given up on the medical route. I am so afraid to try your method as is seems just the opposite of what I've been doing but will try it. I just wish I understood it. You might be my new best friend if it works! LOL.....
I found your post trying to find another solution... i know we share the same symptom bc just as you described your remedy, i used to do the same until it wore off.. I since began using johnson& johnson baby oil after a shower because it keeps your pores closed and traps your body heat.
Well that trick worked for about 5yrs, i stopped using it for about a yr and now it has come back. But now baby oil only calms the itching for about time to take another shower..
I dont know what causes the itching but i will never forget the first time i experienced it.. I was walkin down the school hallway when i was in 10th grade.. i had to rush to the restroom and see what it was and as i got more nervous the worse it got so i just waited till i calmed down and it went away.(bout 5min)
Thank you for your post on itching. I've had a similar problem with skin temperature changes since I was a kid, but really felt I had grown out of it. Now that I'm nearing 30 its come back, but I didn't even begin to think they were related. I've tested your theory and its worked for me. What has been an agonizing mystery that I didn't want doctors trouble shooting with unnecessary meds has now been solved. Thanks! Now if we could just figure out why our skin freaks out and if that is tied to anything else...
