I am 62 but dont look it and sometimes I am shocked to realize just how old I am!! How did I get here??? I am a disabled RN, havent worked since 2006. Thats a long story, too long for this Profile.I have a history of depression and anxiety dating back to my teenage year
[More]s. Major depression in 1976, then it morphed into dysthymic depression. Did not get treatment until age 50. It helped a few years but I question now if I really needed to be on meds all these years. And recently stopped taking the anti-depressants. Am so interested in the person who was hidden under layers of meds. I also was on Klonapin and Ambien all those years and also stopped taking them- the Klonapin was stopped abruptly (huge mistake!) and 3 monthes later I'm still in withdrawal and thats why I searched and found this site. Its very lonely going thru something the average person doesnt even know exists. Its not something you can casually mention, y'know?
Other things about me: I have 5 wonerful cats, indoor strictly. One only has 3 legs, and another is totally deaf. But all 5 are the sweetest cats, and, well, spoiled rotten. I love nearly all animals. Would probably wreck my car trying to avoid a raccoon crossing the road. I am quite artistic. Color is my biggest love. When I lived in Cambridge MA I had my own art business, selling the mirrors and home items I painted at art/craft shows in New England. Was the NE reporter for Sunshine Artist Magazine. In 1997 I moved to Florida and had to end the art show biz (no market here for funky stuff). I also love gardening and in the 6 years I've lived in this house, transformed all four sides of the house with gardens. I even collect my own mulch!!! (yeah, OCD!!) I'm glad that now, I can relate my good qualities without flinching and not dwell on my negatives. This is wonderful progress.
