About Me: Female, 33, Washington, DC, member since Dec 2010
I am 28 years old, full time student studying physiology and neurobiology and am medical school bound! I'm married, no kids, just a cat. I worked as an ER technician for 8 years before going back to school to be a doctor. Just having a hard time being sick and trying to
[More] go to school but I'll get there!
I have gained a lot of knowledge about various medical issues from personal research/interest, hands-on experience and also from dealing with my own health issues. I feel that becoming a good doctor is understanding what it's like to be a patient first. I have definitely been there, and I continue to see the struggles that people go through to find help and a diagnosis. I am constantly learning new things and I hope to share my knowledge with others to help through the difficult process of medical treatment and diagnosis.
I am here to learn, and to help!
Just a quick note to say hi! Thank you for your offer of exercises for my poor hand. I was in the hospital one month ago, for a week. I was sleeping under heavy sedation and someone did a blood test in the night. Both of my hands had gauze and bandages on them when I woke, but the left was agony across the palm, thumb and first two fingers. I'm still very weary from the meningitis that put me in the hospital, but my hand is driving me crazy with pain, tingling, burning and weakness. I am an artist (illustrator) and build miniature dollhouses. I see little hope of returning to my craft unless this improves. My email address is ***@****. Thanks for the offer of help'
Congratulations! I am new to the site. I read your entire story this morning. Thank you for sharing in such detail. I have dealt with many health issues my entire life. However, what brought me here is two-fold. I am intuitive in some situations and I am trying to understand what is going on NOW! I don't have a good feeling about this one!! If I have to deal with something like what you did I want to pick the right doctor to see quickly. I just don't know if I should go to my primary or my stomach specialist. I guess the later? I was so glad to read about your outcome and choices. By the way, I don't have a spleen and you made the RIGHT call on that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care
Just a quick note to say hi!
