About Me: Female, 54, Pittsburgh, PA, member since May 2011
I am 49 years old... I have been working on and off 30 years a heroin addiction.
To say the least it has been one UPHILL BATTLE for me, and I am tired...
[More] Currently I am a year into being clean off DOPE (heroin), while taking 70 mgs. of Methadone. Methadone WORKS for me, it keeps focused, it BLOCKS my cravings, and I am finishing up my associates degree averaging a B. So therefore at 70 mgs, I am comfortable but will be much better when I am down to 45 or 50... I am tired of others
(who continue to struggle in their own lives), tell me that its still a drug and I SHOULD not continue taking drugs etc... Methadone gave me my life back, I am not at an average high dose of "150" mgs, and I am getting along in class, and most importantly with my children and family.
I have just had to quit my interferon treatment due to it taking over my body. I am dangerously thin, have absolutely no appetite. My Drs. afraid for me, so 5months into a years treatment I have quit...we will check my blood in 3 months to see if there is anychange, then go from there..
