About Me: Male, 53, waxahachie, TX, member since May 2011
I've been eating a pretty good diet of fruits and vegetables and lean meats for at least the last 10 years. I quit smoking almost 5 years ago after smoking at least 30 years. Yes I was young when I started smoking. But when i quit with the help of chantix i quit in 11 d
[More]ays and have never wanted or had the urge to ever smoke again. I have no cancer that runs in either side of my family of any kind. Heart attacks and strokes maybe but no cancer anywhere. So I'll step up and be the first for that one. I was told it couldn't be blamed on the smoking because how long its been since I quit. So we have to say its from an ulser i've had for some time and it pretty much went away when I quit smoking. But when I was having some blood count problems a few years back they found I had secondary polycynthemia. Sorry about all the spelling being off. And when my cell counts went down thats probably when the cancer set in. I have stage 3 esophageal cancer and I am going through chemoradiation treatments for 5 weeks and I am suppose to go in for a complete stomach removal and part of the esophagus. I'm right in the middle of treatments and I still go to work and I still eat regular food , I did have to get some meds to numb my esophagus so it wouldn't hurt so much when I eat certain types of food. Oh and I did get a mediport put in my right upper chest all sewed in nothing exposed, its all healed up and has already been used for a week with 5FU chemo. 05-28-11
