I saw your note about the pain in your shoulder/neck. Just wanted to let you know that I have the exact same symptoms and I immediately saw a sports therapist. Do not go to a General Practitioner - they are not best suited to address this. To me it sounds like you have a pinched nerve and an MRI would likely confirm it.
In my case, I have had the same problem before and it took many weeks - several months in fact to get back to normal. Physical therapy and a lot of stretching was what eventually did the trick for me. Personally, I would stay away from any surgery because there are so many conservative ways of dealing with this. The good news is that it is not a major issue, but the pain frankly is hard to deal with and it will take some a few weeks to get better.
