came to this forum to learn more about the medicine I have been prescribed for chronic back pain for herniated disks called topramax. I am 49 years old and have had to take a leave of absence from work in order to deal with my back issue. I have been working with a chir
[More]opractor, vitamins , taken pain management epis, all with no long term relief. I was a sport enthusiast and in quite good shape until some stressful factors in my early 40's had me turn to cymbalta in which helped with with some things but hurt me with others. I gained at least 40 pounds, had horrific migraines, and still worked out like I was in my 20's. I slowed weaned myself from the Cymbalta back in May and felt great, until I had my back go out in mid June. I had not been new to back issues, but this time I did not recover. I have a feeling that the Cymbalta had been masking my back issues all those years and when I went off it ..pow! So here I am...trying to recover as holistically as possible..yet turning to meds for some relief. The Topamax has been a draw because...lo and behold..i am dropping weight and LOVING IT! However, I am worried about some other costs. I also don't want to stay on it forever.
