I am a foster mom for Tucker, a 7 year old choc lab. Just diagnosed with early kidney disease. Elevated BUN but creatinine is normal range. I have taken him off commercial dog food and giving raw meat and sushi rice, with veggies, ground egg shell, pumpkin puree, salmon oil, B vitamin, Q10 vitamin. He is eating well, drinks excessively and only occasionally has urine accidents. He is also blind incidently. At this stage is there anything else I should do to keep him as healthy as possible. I thought egg shells would bind the phosphorous? No? Thanks
Tony, just looking for some reassurance as we have little time with our 10 year old Cairn Bella. She has gone down hill fast this last week. Creatine levels at 9 , put her into ER and the last test showed 5.2 . That is where they are now. Ultrasound showed cysts on kidneys, liver scarring and sludge in the Gal bladder. She isn't eating and drinking very little. I don't want her end to be painful but I want to help her if I can at this point. I'm already spent five thousand in treatment, not sure if daily IVs is just dealin the inevitable. Any advice ?
