About Me: Female, 56, Brookfield, WI, member since Jan 2012
I am interested in learning and sharing information on women's mid-life health issues, particulatly Pelvic Organ Prolapse ("POP"), Cataracts, and Integrative Medicine approaches to treatment of perimenopause symptoms. In my experience, doctors take too little time to e
[More]xplain treatment options, and there is no consistently reliable information in the media that explains the causes and prevention of POP as well as treatment options and recovery. If younger women knew that certain procedures in vaginal childbirth may contribute to POP development, they may be able to make more informed choices about their childbirth options and in inteviewing and chosing a doctor for their delivery. If mid-life women are told that certain physical activities (like heavy lifting, for one) and health conditions can contribute to POP development, they may be able to make more informed choices about their physical activities and health care choices. Knowledge is power. All women should have the information available to them to make informed choices. It is OUR body, and we are responsible for knowing how it works, and for taking care of it properly. Nobody else will do this for you.
