Originally from Sydney, Australia and now working in the US since Oct 07.
Found ovarian mass November 06 by ultrasound while living & working in the UK. Initially they diagnosed borderline/LMP Feb 07 during laparoscopy (CA125 430) then had staging debulking surgery April 07 (CA125 dropped to 17). They thought that it could be MSPC with invasive implants following laparotomy but after pathology came back as standard malignant Serous Papillary Epithilial adenocarcinoma. I had 6 cycles Carboplatin/Taxol which ended mid October 2007 and have had nice single digit CA125 since.
After being in remission for 18mths, decided to pursue our dream of a family using the wonderful gift of an egg donor. Emily Rose was born in November 2009 and truly is a miracle baby.
During the pregnancy checks I was diagnosed with Graves Disease, an autoimmune disease causing hyperthyroidism. Not supposed to be linked to OVCA or chemo but it makes you wonder.......
Hi! How are you doing? How are the babies? I don't think you check on here anymore, but going to try anyway! I think of you often. I hope you are well. I saw 3 years w/o chemo, so that is a great thing!! Let me know, Colleen
Congratulations! Time for a celebration...I am a 19 month cervical cancer survivor. I was stage 2B, had external/internal radiation and chemo. Had Graves the entire time, but did not know it.
Emily Rose (beautiful name for a beautiful girl) caught my eye and I saw that you were also a cancer surivor with Graves. I will be back to read your journals and post, I just read your bio but have to run.
Enjoy that beautiful baby.
You deserve a big bear hug! I don't know if you even check on here anymore but wanted to check in and see how you and Emily and family are doing? I hope you are great and she is running you around :)
New pics would be great too :)
