Hi again,
I control the constipation with prune juice in the AM, 2 Colace tablets during the day and Miralax in the evening. Fatigue is a problem and I have to rest when it hits. My hair has thinned, but I have enough to cover my scalp. My blood values go down and I need an Aranesp shot once a month, or less.
I get an IV of Benedryl and Decadron to prevent nausea, then the Topo and an IV of saline solution. That night I take 1 Zofran and I don't have nausea, I need a sleeping pill to counter the IV steroids.
That's about it, it has worked for 10 months, so I'll stay with it stops. My oncologist says I'll be on chemo for the rest of my life.
Thanks for your good wishes, good health and let me know if you need any other Topo info.
When you can, please fill out your profile.

Hi Jlyer,
I thought I'd write you a note, rather than post my experience with Topotecan. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, had my surgery, the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes, and I was staged 4B. When I was recovered, I had a chest port installed, and then carbo/taxol chemo.
I only had a 3 month remission, and then my CA125 began rising and the CT scan showed cancer again in some lymph nodes. My oncologist started me on Topotecan, last June and I've been on it since then. It doesn't work for a lot of OVCA but thankfully it has worked for me, my CA125 has gone down, or stayed the same and now it's 24.0 and my last scan showed no progression, and 2 of the lymph nodes are normal size.
the side affects are not as bad as carbo/taxol was, I'll continue in the next note
Hi,
Was just wondering how you got on with your ca125 count? It just reminded me of exactly what i am going through. I have LMP borderline and my ca125 has always been around 9-12 even with cancer. Recently my ca125 has been 66, 85, 108 and 150. Nothing showed on internal ultrasound. BIt concerned, gyn-oncologists are not really sure what the numbers mean either, have surgery in April to find out. Best of luck with everything.
