About Me: Male, 62, Reno, NE, member since Jul 2012
I have a history of Degenerative Joint/disk disease. I had an operation where metal was put into my back to help correct some of the issues I was having but complications arose 5 years later and the metal has to be taken out. Now I still have issues with this disease an
[More]d sometimes steroid shots help. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who did a lot of work on my back with out any side effects from surgery or paralysis. Do the research, understand what the disease it and read all you can. Find a doctor who can give you straight answers and no dope medication. The medication sometimes will work and other times will not. Don't just take a doctors word for it. Take the time to understand what causes disease like this and what the drugs can and cannot do. Accept the idea that you can never be pain free but the mind is stronger than the drugs. Use this power to center yourself and DON'T give up just because of pain. Yes it is rough but the alternative of living on drugs wears thin when you body no longer feels relief from the drugs. Thanks for listening...best of luck!!!!
"You have been wonderful with advise and help. I just got an email from her yesterday that her report came back negative and she does not have cancer. She just got the call from the doctor.
This lady has been through hell and recovered ..."
Just a quick note to say hi! I have several muscle skeletal issues as well as degenerative disk disease a result of being very athletic growing up. Long story short 17 years ago, my old MD had me on pain meds, which only made things worse. I quit western medicine approach and began a more holistic approach, massage therapy, chiropractics, diet , herbal teas and exercise. Specific stretches and exercise. Diet I avoid all inflammatory foods and foods that contain wheat gluten. As a result of doing things the natural way I have been mostly pain free and have been able to enjoy life for the past 15 years. I still have good days and bad, but mostly good and much more manageable. Hope this helps.
