About Me: Female, 40, Australia, member since Nov 2007
My name is Cornel. I am female, 40 years old. I am marr
[More]ied to Fernando and have 2 children, Marco (born 2002) and Kayla (born 2005). I was born in South Africa and we immigrated to Australia during July 2011.
I was an active, healthy person, until my 30's. After Kayla's birth I had an emergency Hysterectomy due to complications after the C-section. I had my Gallbladder removed in 2006 and had emergency operation (ERCP) 5 days later - traumatic experience as I almost died because of Cholangitis and blockages in bile-duct.
I have hypercholestorolemia and have been on statins since my early 20's. No CAD as I take my medication and health very seriously.
My heart symptoms began in 2007 and I had Cardiac Ablation to treat SVT and Atrial Fib. In 2008 I went into heart failure, Pulmonary hypertention and had to go for open-heart surgery/sternotomy as the segments supporting my Mitral valve-leaflets were deformed (congenital defect) and I had my Mitral heart valve repair done 31 March 2008 and had a second operation end 2009 to remove all broken sternal wires.
Had a neck Fusion/Foramenotomy with Stabilization due to Osteophytosis of C5/6 and C6/7 done in May 2011.
Gastric inlet Patches and Barrets Esophagus due to severe GERD and Barrets surveilance to check for signs of dysplasia or cancer.
I had Lap. Nissen Fundoplication Surgery on 8 Feb 2012 and last week I had some tests done and the Fundoplication is to tight and food can not enter normally. At this stage, I am waiting to hear if I need a revision.
I hope that I can help other people by telling my story and sharing my experiences by giving advice and support.
