About Me: Male, 46, Spartanburg, SC, member since Sep 2012
In November 2010, I was mugged by 3 men who attempted to steal my purse & car keys. I ended up with 4 damaged spinal discs and have been in severe pain ever since. (My CT done in 1/2011 was initially reported as showing kidney stones, diverticulosis, but a "normal spin
[More]e") My PCP of 18 years hounded the radiologists for a 2nd look when I spent several more visits sobbing in his office. I could barely move for 6 months & ended up gaining 60 lbs. With the help of weekly deep tissue massage, chiro treatments, acupuncture & meds (75 mcg Fentanyl & 8 mg Dilaudid prn for breakthrough pain) I was able to start moving again. Pain managements goal was to do surgery or get me off all the meds - nothing in between. Fast forward to present... I moved from upstate NY to Spartanburg, SC in July for my husbands job. The weather has helped me feel better & I am active at the YMCA & using less pain medication. I have spent the past 2 months trying to find a doctor to assume my care and as soon as they hear I am a chronic pain patient, they refuse to accept me as a patient. I only have 1 month of patches left & I am terrified that I wont be able to continue with my recovery.
